Universidad Andrés Bello Obtains ANECA Certification for All Its Schools

With the recent inclusion of the School of Exact Sciences and the Creative Campus, all 11 schools at Universidad Andrés Bello (UNAB) have obtained certification for the maximum six-year period. This recognition affirms their high academic standards and alignment with international benchmarks.

This certification was granted by Spain’s National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation (ANECA)through its International Audit Program, which evaluates the implementation of Internal Quality Assurance Systems (IQAS) in higher education institutions. This achievement underscores the university’s commitment to academic excellence and continuous improvement, raising its standards to an international level.

«The full certification of the Internal Quality Assurance Systems across all our schools is a major milestone that directly benefits our students. It also fulfills the commitment we made on this front six years ago. Moreover, it ensures that our programs remain up to date, our teaching methodologies are effective, and our training is aligned with the demands of today’s global professional landscape,» said Julio Castro, President of Universidad Andrés Bello.

UNAB’s certification process began at the institutional level several years ago, achieving its first accreditation in 2021. From there, efforts expanded to the remaining schools, culminating in this significant achievement: all 11 schools are now certified under ANECA’s International Audit Program.

The accredited schools are: Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Rehabilitation Sciences, Life Sciences, Law, Education and Social Sciences, Economics and Business, Engineering, Exact Sciences, and the Creative Campus.

The Dean of Quality Assurance at UNAB, Carmen Gloria Jiménez, stated that «this significant achievement demonstrates the university’s commitment to quality and continuous improvement, which, on this occasion, is internationally endorsed by the quality seal of ANECA’s International Audit Program.»

Recognition for the Final Schools to Achieve Certification

This milestone is particularly significant for the School of Exact Sciences and the Creative Campus, which were the final schools to obtain ANECA accreditation.

For Pierre Paul Romagnoli, Dean of the School of Exact Sciences, the ANECA International Audit Program’s quality seal confirms that his school meets global standards. «This certification validates our internal quality assurance processes, which are designed to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and continuously refine the elements that ensure compliance with our strategic goals and institutional mission. It serves as a management model that optimizes and systematizes both academic and administrative processes, guaranteeing continuous improvement,» he stated.

Similarly, Ricardo Abuauad, Dean of the Creative Campus, highlighted the importance of this achievement: «We take great pride in this recognition, as it reflects our ongoing commitment to monitoring the quality of every aspect of our school’s activities. This is an endorsement from an external, highly qualified body, verifying that our processes are consistently evaluated, reviewed, and adjusted as needed. It is, therefore, a major achievement for our Creative Campus.»

What Is SAIC?

The Internal Quality Assurance System (SAIC) is a strategic and management tool designed to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and refine the core elements that ensure adherence to the university’s quality goals and institutional guidelines.

SAIC ensures that UNAB meets the highest international standards set by leading accreditation bodies worldwide.

The Internal Quality Assurance System serves the following purposes:

  • Implement Universidad Andrés Bello’s Quality Policy, establishing clear frameworks for action, assessment, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure the existence of key components essential for fulfilling the university’s core mission, taking both internal and external contexts into account.
  • Support the institution’s mission, vision, and objectives by promoting evidence-based decision-making and ongoing evaluation.
  • Guarantee and foster continuous improvement, strengthening self-regulation processes to maintain the relevance and quality of all academic and administrative activities.
