UNAB Ranked Among Chile’s Top Universities for Sustainability by QS

Universidad Andrés Bello (UNAB) has been recognized in the QS World University Rankings: Sustainability 2026, placing among the top five Chilean institutions for its commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In this edition of the ranking—developed by UK-based consultancy Quacquarelli Symonds—more than 2,000 universities around the world were evaluated on their social and environmental sustainability performance, as well as institutional governance.

Among the 20 Chilean universities included in the ranking, UNAB placed fifth nationally and 721st globally, making it the highest-ranked private non-traditional university in Chile.

Environmental and Social Impact

In the category breakdown, UNAB ranked third nationally in Environmental Impact, eighth in Social Impact, and ninth in Governance, demonstrating consistent performance across key sustainability dimensions in higher education.

UNAB Provost Ana María Pavez highlighted the achievement:

“This recognition reflects sustained institutional work, where sustainability is not an isolated concept but a strategic priority that runs through our teaching, research, community engagement, and university governance.”

She also emphasized the inclusion of governance as a ranking dimension:

“It is key to shaping a strategic view of sustainability at the institutional level.”

About the Ranking

The QS Sustainability Ranking aims to identify institutions that lead in environmental, social, and governance impact, aligned with ESG standards and the UN SDGs. This year’s global ranking was led by Lund University (Sweden), followed by the University of Toronto and University College London. In Latin America, the highest-ranked university was the University of São Paulo.

These results reaffirm UNAB’s commitment to a university management model centered on sustainable development and a positive contribution to society.
