According to information provided by the Ministry of Education, the Universidad Andrés Bello led for the eleventh consecutive year in the preference of students entering higher education with 56,792 applications.
UNAB President Julio Castro said, «the admission process confirms the validity of our educational project, and today more than ever, amid the social, political, economic, and technological transformations that our country is undergoing, this result strengthens our commitment to the new generations that choose UNAB to develop their capacities and become the protagonists of the changes demanded by society”.
He also highlighted the 2.9% increase in the total number of students who applied to the university. «In times like these, Chile needs solid educational projects like Universidad Andrés Bello: an institution of excellence, secular, pluralistic, and diverse, with institutional values of responsibility, respect, and integrity. These are hallmarks of our students which they and society tremendously value».
The President added that, together with the regular admission process, UNAB is promoting different access routes that allow more students to pursue higher education, achieving its inclusive mission. «We have criteria to recognize the achievements of outstanding students, the completion of other higher education studies, students with different aptitudes such as athletes and artists, students with secondary studies abroad or people with disabilities, among others», Castro said.
This year, university and academic activities are expected to resume face-to-face, given the importance of these activities for the proper development of students. UNAB has strict protocols and special measures to ensure campus safety and the ability to adjust to different health scenarios.

The 2022 admission process demonstrates once again that UNAB reflects the social composition of the country. Of the total number of students selected by the university, about 60.1% come from private subsidized schools, while 21.1% belong to municipal schools and 16% to private schools.
Selected students who belong to the first six income deciles will benefit from internal scholarships, which they can maintain throughout their careers if they meet the required academic merits. «This is part of our inclusive mission and our responsibility to generate transversal opportunities, where the socioeconomic level is not, in any case, an impediment to entering the university», explained the UNAB president.
In 2022, the institution will award new students more than $9 billion pesos in scholarships and benefits.
The careers with the highest number of effective applications this year were: Medicine, Psychology, Obstetrics, Nursing, and Veterinary Medicine. «Our consolidation in the health sciences field is not only relevant for the university but also the country, since we are contributing with professionals prepared to face challenges as important as the current pandemic, and contributing from different areas, such as research and telehealth, to help overcome it», said the university’s highest authority.
Like last year, in 2022, UNAB continues to have a 100% online enrollment process, allowing students to enroll at any time and from anywhere without visiting the university to complete the process and receive all documentation via email.
