UNAB Among the Top 10 Universities in Chile, According to QS World Rankings 2026

In this prestigious assessment, Universidad Andrés Bello (UNAB) stands out internationally for the diversity and number of international students it welcomes, as well as for its strong international research networks. UNAB also made progress in 8 of the 10 indicators evaluated in this ranking.

The latest results of the QS World University Rankings, produced by the international consultancy Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), place UNAB among the top 10 universities in Chile. UNAB climbed one position compared to the previous edition, now ranking eighth among institutions in the country.

UNAB also ranks among the top 10 Chilean universities in 7 of the 10 indicators used by the renowned British firm QS to assess higher education institutions worldwide.

“These results reflect Universidad Andrés Bello’s ongoing commitment to achieving standards of excellence that positively impact our students’ education and, in turn, contribute to the country’s development by preparing highly qualified professionals,” said UNAB Provost Ana María Pavez. She added: “We are proud of UNAB’s continued presence among Chile’s leading universities; proud to be a benchmark for continuous improvement, and to have a strong outlook for the future.”

UNAB’s Performance in the QS Rankings

In the breakdown of results for the QS World University Rankings 2026, Universidad Andrés Bello ranks fourth nationally in the indicators of sustainability, international research networks, and diversity of international students.

It ranks:

  • Sixth nationally in proportion of international students
  • Eighth in academic reputation and faculty-to-student ratio
  • Tenth in employer reputation

It is worth noting that, compared to the previous edition, UNAB improved in 8 of the 10 indicators. The most significant gains were in:

  • Sustainability, where it rose five positions
  • Proportion of international students, where it rose four positions

An Institution of Excellence

The British firm QS also produces the QS Stars rating system, a globally recognized framework that evaluates the performance of institutions that voluntarily submit to its review. UNAB is the only Chilean university — and one of only five in South America — to achieve the level of excellence in this system.

QS Stars evaluates institutions individually — unlike traditional rankings — assigning a star rating (from 0 to 5+) based on their performance across key areas of university activity.

The level of excellence corresponds to achieving 5 stars, which requires scoring over 700 points in the evaluated areas. Universidad Andrés Bello earned 754 points out of a possible 1,000, across nine areas.

In its most recent edition, which assessed more than 1,500 institutions worldwide, QS Stars awarded UNAB 5 stars overall, as well as 5 stars in six of the nine categories in which it was evaluated:

    • Teaching
    • Online Learning
    • Employability
    • Good Governance
    • Environmental Impact
  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
